J E N N I E

Jennie is my little sweetie!
She's also very much my little problem child!
Which, I think is part of what makes her so special to me, & what makes me feel so close to her. I spend as much time with her as I can in an effort to keep the relationship I have with her.

I bought her from a breeder when she was just 12 weeks old, figuring that at that young of an age, I could teach her to be a social, loving, warm companion, but that's not how things turned out to be & she's definitely a 1 person bird only. A couple of other family members have tried to be brave enough to hand feed her treats, or give her scritches, only to be reprimanded with a very hard bite from her strong & relentless beak! Believe me, after being bitten once by Jennie, most people will avoid the situation again at all costs!

I have had to learn to read her body language & know immediately when she is an unapproachable mood, so I've been able to avoid any bites since the first few months with her.

She is very warm & sweet to me at times too. She lets me know when she wants, or will allow head scritches. She will also step up, but only on her terms. She can't be forced into doing anything she doesn't want to do & I don't try anymore.

I've learned to enjoy the loving side of her when she decides to let it show & it's such a great feeling when I know she trusts me enough to let me be a part of her world.
