Kewi is a 3 year old gorgeous
Orange Wing Amazon Parrot
I adopted on 11/11/07 from her previous parront who felt she could no longer take care of her properly since she has recently had to take on a second job.
She is proving to be such a GOOD GIRL & an absolute pleasure to have in our family! And she seems to be adapting to her new home very well.
She steps up readily & happily on command, is very tolerant of, & receptive to the grandkids, & is normally quiet & calm, except if left alone for any length of time, or if Manu happens to make any noises, LoL!
She's not been DNA tested, so her gender is not known for certain, however since she does say her name, I'm not going to change it & Kewi seems girlish to me.
She's quite a talker, which is very awesome to me, as my other birds don't have large vocabularies. It's SO funny to hear her talk! Most of the time I can't quite make out exactly what she's telling me, but other words are just as plain as day. She has daily hollering matches with Manu & it gets pretty loud! I think her voice is every bit as loud as Manu's!!
The other birds seem quite startled when they hear her, but I think that after her quarantine period & they're able to see her, they'll be OK with it & go on with their business.F A C T S
PARROT SPECIES: Orange Wing Amazon
ADOPTED: 11/11/07 at 3 years old
HATCH DATE: unknown, but we'll celebrate her birthday as 11/11/04
GENDER: unknown, but is considered female
CURRENT DIET: Zupreem natural pellets - conure size (which is what her previous parront was also feeding her), along with lots of other good, fresh & frozen foods
she doesn't seem to care too much for nuts, even tho I crack them for her, but I'll continue to offer them as a treat
FAV FOOD: not real sure yet, but she is a very good, healthy eater
I'm discovering that she really seems to like pasta & mixed cooked beans

1/8/08: Kewi's first avain vet visit with Dr Kroeger
I kind of hate to admit this, as I'm normally the first one that will tell you to get a new bird in for a check up as soon as possible, but due to everything we've had going on & the expenses involved, I've put if off until now. However, if I'd had ANY concerns about her health, I would certainly have taken her in sooner.
Since it was her first visit, I kept things to a minimum so that she wont associate the trip with a bad experience. Just a physical exam basically, no blood work done.
Dr says she looks great & seems in excellent health!
